The Division of Endocrinology and Diabetology provides cutting-edge medicine in the field of hormonal and metabolic disorders that is in line with international standards and based on the latest scientific findings from its own as well as global research.
Two walk-in clinics provide outpatient care: Our diabetes outpatient clinic treats adult patients with diabetes mellitus (types 1 and 2 and all other types), glucose metabolism disorders, diabetic foot syndrome and lipid metabolism disorders as well as women with diabetes mellitus who are or would like to become pregnant. The endocrinology outpatient clinic treats adult patients with hormonal disorders including diseases of the thyroid, pituitary gland, adrenal glands, male or female sexual glands and metabolic bone diseases such as osteoporosis. Our division also includes an inpatient ward with 22 beds for patients with hormonal and metabolic disorders as well as general internal medicine patients. Our division treats a total of 9,928 outpatients and 844 inpatients per year (data from 2019).
As part of the Medical University of Graz, we are particularly interested in the close connection between patient care, innovative and patient-oriented research and practice-oriented education and clinical training. While you receive care from our division, we would be happy to inform you about opportunities to participate in ongoing research projects.
The uniqueness and the added value of our division are the result of the symbiosis between patient care, research and education. The division is jointly operated by the Medical University of Graz and the Styrian Hospital Association (KAGes). This interdisciplinary cooperation between both providers at the University Hospital Graz site is also reflected on our website. More information on patient care can be found at the University Hospital Graz website.
